Salient Features
Department of Textile Technology was started in the year 1998 with strong motive to give Technical education and train the young buds with latest Techniques. It is really proud to say we are the only college offering Textile Technology 4 year degree course in Trichy zone. The primary objective of the department is to provide facilities and offer opportunities for higher education in Technology by instruction, training, research development and extension activities. The department also serves as a centre for exchange of ideas between the academic community and the industries.

EVENTS
TexFort 2010
Department of Textile Technology organized 'TexFort 2010' a national level Technical Symposium on 26th Feb 2010. Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Fabric ornamentation & Designer contest were conducted for Engineering, polytechnic, Arts & Science students from all over India. Mrs. Uma Arun, Academic Director inaugurated the function in the esteemed presence of Managing Trustee Dr.M.R.Arun, Thiru A.M.Raman.,IAS, Advisor, Saraswathi Education & Health Trust delivered the presidential address. Dr.C.B.Lakshmi Kantha, Principal, Matha Engg College, Chennai was the Chief Guest.
TEX SPARK 2012
Department of Textile Technology organized 'TexSpark 2012' a national level Technical Symposium on 25th March 2012. Paper Presentation, Poster Presentation, Fabric ornamentation, Technical Quiz & Designer contests were conducted for Engineering, polytechnic, Arts & Science students from all over India. Mrs. Uma Arun, Academic Director inaugurated the function .Thiru .Anbarasu,Chief manager- HR ,SRF Limited,Viralimalai & Mr.Karthik babu,Manager Supply chain and logistics,M/s Linea fashions,Chennai were the chief guests.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
The Department of Textile Technology was successfully conducted the two weeks 'STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM' sponsored by AICTE (All India Council For Technical Education), on 'Fabric Structure and its properties'.
SEMINAR :
'Recent trends in Apparel Industries' was organised on 12th Feb 2010. Mr.V.G.Venkatesh, Associate Professor, Pearl Academy of Fashions, Chennai was the speaker.
GUEST LECTURES :
- Optitex Software' was organised on 25th August 2010. Mr.M.Sridharan, Sales Manager, M/s Optitex. Bangalore was the speaker
- 'Garment Technology' was organised on 8th March 2011, Ms.C.K.Hemalatha, Asst Professor, Dept of Home Science, Seethalakshmi Ramasamy College, Trichy was the Speaker
WORKSHOP
Workshop on Embroidery, Organic cotton and CAD were organized for the benefit of our students.
CAREER PROSPECTS
The technological knowledge and skills of our graduates are highly valued by textile manufacturing companies. The industry realizes that its future depend upon the quality of its technology and managers, because the quality of product and productivity play the vital role for exporting garments. Our graduates play a good role in quality production & management. As a result export in garments sector now a day reached about 76% of the total export of the country. The majority of our graduates take up posts in the Textile Manufacturing Industries. Recent graduates have found employment in the areas of Production, Design, Textile Testing & Quality Assurance, New Product Development, Buying House etc. At present there is a huge demand of textile graduates, in our country.

As a part of curriculum students were permitted to undergo industrial visits and in-plant training in various Textile mills to acquire more practical knowledge. Some of the company names are given below:

New initiatives and future vision
- In order to enhance wide industrial exposure and employment opportunity for the students in prospective industries, it is planned to have a tie up with industries
- The training in latest textiles software will be arranged for students to acquire placement in reputed companies.
- To conduct national and international conference in latest techniques.
