The new Central Library has been built to meet International Standards with a separate area of 13500 sq. ft. The uniqueness of our library lies on expensive study space blended with state-of-art facilities. The Digital Library service unit provides access to computers with internet facility. A separate dedicated leased line has been installed for high-speed internet connectivity. Central Library is fully air-conditioned, well-protected with fully automated for day to day operations and Computerized Bar-coded Systems with latest technology equipments. Specialized Collections of Books, Journals & Non-Book Materials are available in Basic Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Biotechnology, Textile Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences. The Library has 26,200 volumes and 8100 titles of books, 650 Back Volumes, 780 CDs, 630 Theses, 270 Book Bank Books and 123 National and International Journal subscribes including IEEE Print and 500 + Online, ACM, IEI, IETE, ASME and IAS Publications.

Highly qualified, efficient librarians ensure the best possible information services. Standard textbooks and reference books by well-known authors are stocked, and every effort is made to obtain all titles recommended by the faculty. Multiple copies of popular books are brought to make them available to as many students as possible. A copier facility is also provided for the benefit of those who access the library.

The Department of Central Library organized a “Digital Library Awareness Programme for P.G Students and Faculty Members” byMr.Ravishankar, Senior Manager, Training Department, Informatics India, Bangalore (J-Gate) on 25th March-2010.

Workshop:
Mr.T.Suresh Kumar and Mr.T.Selvaraj, Librarians, Department of Central Library, Participating in the “National workshop on Quality Assurance in Academic Libraries: NAAC and NBA Parameters” held at National College, Tiruchirappalli on 10th April -2010.

National and International Conference:
Mr.T.Suresh Kumar., Librarian Presented a Paper title “Electronic Library Services in India” in International Conference on Information Management Envisioning the Future Libraries held at Rev.Jacob Memorial Christian College, Ambilikkai, Dindigul on 7-8th Oct-2010.

 

Rules and Regulations

  1. Strict and absolute silence shall be observed in the Library.
  2. Cell Phone to be switch off inside the Library.
  3. All Staff and Students enter in to the Library should Signature in the Gate Register.
  4. Bags, Big handbags, Raincoat, Jerkin and Casual wears are strictly prohibited inside the library.
  5. Library users are strictly prohibited from taking the borrowed and stamped books again inside the library.
  6. If the due date falls on a holiday for the Library, the next working day will be taken as the due date.
  7. Books will be issued to the members on producing the Membership card.
  8. If any book is lost or damage beyond repair, the person responsible shall replace it with a new copy or pay double the cost of the recent price and handling charges or as may be decided by the librarian.
  9. Membership cards are not transferable. Books will not be issued to students on the Membership card of the staff members.
  10. Books will be issued subject to availability only.
  11. Any kind of marking, underlining, Clipping of books is absolutely forbidden. Readers shall be held responsible for any damage done to the book belonging to the Library and shall be required to replace such books or pay the value thereof.
  12. The Students are strictly not permitted to alter the seating arrangements at the reading hall.
  13. The students are strictly not permitted to conceal / change the order of books in the stack.
  14. Absence from the College will not be allowed as an excuse for the delay in the return of books.
  15. Under special circumstances, the librarian may refuse the issue of books or recall the books already issued from any member with out assigning any reason thereof.
  16. The book has to be produced in the library for renewal. The students their books renewal at the time of University Exam only.
  17. No reminder will be issued to individuals but consolidated list of defaulters       will be displayed in the library notice board.
  18. The borrower will be responsible for any loss or non-return of any books issued his/her original or duplicate library card.
  19. Reference books, News Paper, Magazines, Journal and Theses should not be taken out. Overnight issue is available for selected Reference books.
  20. Library overdue fine per day Rs.1/-.
  21. All the rules framed in the college premises are also applicable to the Library during the office hours.

Note: the above rules are intended to regulate the use of Library resources and will be reviewed periodically to meet the changing need.

Any changes in the rules or instructions or information to members will be notified on the Library Notice Board as and when required.
