About the Department

The Department of Information Technology takes immense efforts to promote innovation and has unveiled a new era of creativity, in imparting technological knowledge and skills to the students. The IT department in this institution was established in the academic year 1998-1999 and has risen to stature and eminence by way of producing IT Professionals of excellence who can withstand the competitive and demanding Techno World.

The department aims at assisting the novices to explore novel horizons in the era of information technology, by training them in Object Oriented Techniques, Networks, Multimedia, CASE Tools, Software Engineering Methodologies, Telecommunication Systems, Visual Programming, Internet & Web Technology, Component Based Technology, Data Mining and Data ware housing, Digital Signal Processing, Information Coding Techniques, etc.

The Department has produced good academic results every year and many of the graduates were university rank holders. All batches of IT students are placed in various prestigious firms and institutions. The Department prepares the students to face the challenges ahead and attain bright future.

To develop the Department as a center of excellence in technical education keeping pace with the advances in the field so as to provide quality technical education to the students and to instill high standards of discipline and ethics in the youth so that they become enlightened individuals in the service of humanity at large.

Department profile

The IT faculty shouldering the responsibility of identifying the young genius who avail themselves of every opportunity to fan their creative ability and output. This interaction turns the professionals and competent to meet the collective response and demands of the global village which relies on IT. Faculties provide finishing touches to the budding IT professionals and renders commendable exposure to their thirst and talents. The batches of IT department are well placed in various prestigious firms and institution such as Oracle crop, Infosys, Tcs, Sutherland etc., all over the country. Similarly the achievements of the alumni in competitive examinations like GATE, GRE and TOEFL are really remarkable as a result of the special coaching classes conducted by the faculty.

The strength of the Department lies in its faculty; IT Department has highly qualified, experienced dedicated staff with high degree of academic, and professional competency. Most of the teaching staff are P.G Degree holders. This team of faculty provides the best interactive teaching environment, in tune with rapidly changing environment. The staff members take every effort to maintain the quality and guide the students in a better way so as to make them come up, and shine in today's competitive environment.

National Conference

Department of Information Technology has organized “CRETIT ‘06” – the First National Conference on Recent Trend in Information Technology on 13th October 2006.

The students are benefited by the Conferences & Presented papers as well as attended the seminars with a view to acquire additional information from the special invitees in the Seminar.

Technical Symposium

Department of Information Technology has conducted a National Level Technical symposium XPOSIT 2K5 on 3rd March 2005. Dr. M.Ponnavaiko, Director, Research & Virtual Education, SRM Institute of Science & Technology Deemed University Chennai consented to be the Chief Guest & delivered the key note address. Mrs. Uma Arun, Academic Director, Pavendar Bharathidasan College of Engineering & Technology, Trichy had presided over the function.
IT Department has conducted a National Level Technical Symposium (RIGEL'11) on 12th August 2011.

Library

IT Department has a spacious and well laid out Air-conditioned library with a wide range of books covering academic disciplines & related subjects.

Laboratory

The Institution has well equipped, new generation labs. Computer is the buzzword. The Institution has well engineered computer laboratory with state of the art hardware & software with internet connectivity. An extensive infrastructure with hardware – silicon graphics workstations, Plotters, digitizers, image scanners, white format printers, sound mixers, digital cameras & Software cutting edge design graphics. Excellent working condition is provided to all students to utilize the computers in a meaningful way.
